Day 10 :TrichyFull day tour of Trichy. Trichy was the
citadel of the Chola dynasty in the medievalperiod. In the 18th century it
witnessed the Carnatic wars fought between the French and the English. Lord
Robert Clive's house is still there to see and so is the Danish Church. The
Rock-Fort is the landmark of Trichy. A climb of 434 steps leads to the ancient
temple of Ganapati on top and a further climb to a Shiva temple. Overnight

Day 11 :Trichy -Thanjore - MaduraiMorning drive to
Madurai (142 kms / 4 hrs) visiting Tanjore enroute. At Tanjore, the beautiful
Chola Temple of Brihadeeshwara is capped by a monolithic cupola made of asingle
granite block weighing 80 tons whichwas taken to the top with the help of a 6
kmlong ramp, an old technique used by the Egyptians for building pyramids. Its
bronzesand handicrafts make Tanjore one of the highlights of a visit to South

Day 12 : MaduraiMorning visit the great Meenakshi
Temple dedicated to the consort of Lord Shiva withits towering gopurams (rising
high above the surrounding country side). Later, visit the Tirumala Nayak

Periyar National Park (137 kms / 4 hrs). Set up in 1934,it extends to 777

Wild life can be seen while cruising on Periyar Lake in a motor boat. Amongst
the animals which can be seen are elephants, wild boar, sambar, tiger, leopard,

Day 14 :PeriyarMorning optional visit to the National

of the Ganges houses a temple to Lakshmana. It is believed that Lakshmana
carried out penances here. It is also believed that his brother Bharata
meditated here, and there is a temple to Bharata here. Also seen here are the
Swargashram and the Geeta Bhavan temples. The Lakshmana Jhula, a 450 feet long
suspension bridge was built in 1939. A newer bridge the Ram Jhula has been

JoshimathLeave Rishikesh early morning for Joshimath / Rudraprayag via Devprayag

great river and proceed to Joshimath via Chamoliand Pipalkoti. Arrive at

Rudraprayag early in the morning for Badrinath (31 kms). Reach Badrinath at 11
am.Badrinath - Badrinath is one of the four dhams of the country and situated
at an elevation of 3133 mts. above sea level, guarded on either side by the two
mountainranges known as NAR & NARAYAN, with thetowering NEEL KANTH PEAK
